Over 65 years ago, forward-thinking citizens in Halifax, Nash, Martin and Warren
counties joined forces to bring electricity to rural homes and businesses.
The result of their effort was Halifax Electric Membership Corporation.
Member-owned and locally-controlled, Halifax EMC is an electric co-op serving approximately 11,000 members. We're proud to be one of 27
electric cooperatives in the state of North Carolina who are part of the North Carolina
Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC).
While other types of businesses exist to earn profits, co-ops like Halifax EMC operate to offer better services and savings to its members. Elected
officials are our members' voices.
Halifax EMC is proud to be one of 600 Touchstone Energy cooperatives nationwide serving over 16 million people daily.
