Retirement Announcements

The summer months kicked off with a few personnel changes at the cooperative, including the retirement of two long-time employees.

After 46 years of loyal and dedicated service, Leona Padgette retired from Halifax EMC on May 30. Leona actually began her career at the cooperative as part-time, afterschool help during her high school days. She returned a few years later after getting married and beginning a family to work as a Members Record Clerk. She was promoted to Senior Staff Assistant and later promoted to Manager of Human Resources & Facilities. Leona plans to travel, spend more time with her family, especially her ten “grandblessings” who are all the apples of her eye, and volunteer in the community.

May 30 was also the retirement date for Manager of Marketing & Economic Development Brady Martin. Brady began employment with Halifax EMC in October of 2000 as the Manager of Customer Services and was promoted to Manager of Marketing & Economic Development. Known by many members as our resident energy expert and advisor, Brady could often be found singing the national anthem at local events or perhaps is most recognizable to members as the emcee for the cooperative’s Annual Meeting. Brady is looking forward to spending more time with his family, including his two granddaughters, traveling, and devoting more time to ministry needs at his church.
